The Bell family has been known to house some pretty interesting critters. Last year, we took care of a praying mantis for a few months, the kids catching flies faithfully for him every few days. Over this last week Adam found a mouse, or what we thought was a mouse. After some research we discovered it was a mole. The moles here are actually a whole lot cuter then the ones that tore up out lawns in Monterey.

Nona also found a baby turtle. So cute! Too bad it was soooo dead. Oh well, better luck next time.

Oh the memories of Monterey! I remember sitting out front and watching one of my flowers shake a little then - bloop - it was gone! I must have looked like a crazy lady yelling at my flower bed!
Cute turtle - too bad it couldn't play. We have critters here too and they're very much alive. You know, big fat crickets that I swear can eat a small person (we're protecting Eliza) and groundhogs that Brian thinks are sooo cute. He loves when the babies are out running around.
I found you! This is Leah Grammer (from Monterey) I was actually thinking about you the other day. Your family has really enlarged! Your kids are beautiful! Are you still doing the military thing? Yeah for blogs!!!!
Oh Monterey. My first little Military house. I can distinctly remember going to the store and buying tons of flower to plant in the flower bed Joe made me. I lovingly planted them all, filling our front yard with beautiful blooms and in one week they were all gone, along with half our yard. Good times.
Does your cute little Bell mole have a name?
"To bad it was soooo dead" You are so funny!
I am all for letting my kids play with critters that they find, but a dead turtle? Ewe!
When we first moved here, Trystan brought home a baby squirrel. He was heartbroken that we couldn't keep it as a pet. He and the next door neighbor regularly bring home minnows, crawdads, turtles, tadpoles, huge quarter-sized spiders, frogs, toads, you name it. It keeps them busy for hours and hours on end during the summer. I love it!
Alas...our poor mole didn't live long enough to get a name. With the kids constantly shaking the box, the poor little mole's heart quit on him before the end of the day. I guess Vader (our cat)staring at him for hours on end didn't help either. ;)
