I just can't wait until book club, so if you have a comment about the book, likes, dislikes, favorite parts, please add them to the comments. Caution: There will be spoilers!!!
Alright Crystal! Have at it. We already know you have issues. Let's here 'em. :) You've already corrupted poor Sara Newey and now she won't read them. :P I will get her. You're too far away to stop me. hahaha
So, anyway, I LOVED the books. All 4! So there. I stand by them. I loved the honeymoon, crazy birth, vampire change, Jacob and Renesmee...oh wait...didn't like the combo name, but whatever, Nessie will do just fine. I wish Alice was in it more, but it's all good. I can always go back and read them all over again. It's a good thing I don't have a very good memory, so I can read them all once or twice a year and they'll be like new every time. Woohoo!
I am reading this with my eyes closed! After Patricia discovered that I had a copy, she took it from me. I only read chapter 1 before she took it. I am in WV this week, so I'll be reading it starting Friday when I get back.
I loved all of them too! Each book is my favorite depending on my mood. If I want a sappy love story, I'll read Twilight. In the mood for a heartbreaker? Then it's New Moon all the way. I really liked Breaking Dawn. She did the honeymoon scene perfectly -nothing rated R, but you don't feel cheated (does that make sense?) I'm right there with you on the name. I kept thinking, How do you pronounce this again? I like the imprinting, but I saw it a mile away. And I thought it was a little too convenient. I loved the cottage Esme gave them. I want one now. I was a little disappointed there wasn't a big fight in the end. There was such a build up for one, then... nothing. Not that I wanted anyone to get killed off, but you know, a little action would have been nice. All in all, she did a great job. All the loose ends were tied up, Bella had her happily ever after. She even got to keep seeing her Dad, which was nice. I really liked how good Bella was at being a vampire. She finally found her place.
So I admit it. I DIDN'T read the fourth but read the spoilers. All I can say; he performed a C-section with his TEETH? My uterus just curled up and died.
I miss book club! AUGH! Can I commute and come to it? I promise I won't make fun of anyone!
Sorry, didn't like Breaking Dawn. Love the others - favorite was Twilight, then Eclipse, then New Moon. But Breaking Dawn,,,,,nah. Everything was just too CONVENIENT. I love me a happy ending - insist on it - but she could have been more INTELLIGENT about creating that happy ending instead of making everything so dang easy and predictable and, sorry, silly. And she contradicted too many things she had built up in previous books - vampires can't have kids (oops, yeah they can), the first year of a vampire newborn is horrible (oops, no it isn't), Jacob is a werewolf (oops, no, he's not, he's a shapeshifter), etc. I just think she could have wrapped things up with a nice happy ending but also shown a bit more SACRIFICE to get there. Also, I wanted a Volturi fight - that was WAY anticlimatic. So I read Breaking Dawn, but barely made it through. I then went back and re-read the other three (and still loved them), but then haven't been able to get myself to re-read Breaking Dawn. So I'll just think of it as a trilogy!
Okay, I have to say- not my favorite. I think I'm the only girl in the world that somehow wanted her not to become a vampire, but end up with Jacob. THe whole vampire birth was a little too weird for me and I hated the name. I wasn't really that happy with the whole imprinting thing. I wish she would have wrapped up better what was going on with the werewolves and Leah. I didn't quite understand what Bellas gift was- was it the sheild or that she wasn't a horrible newborn? I have to agree with Lydia- she changed everything and made it a little too convenient. Rant over.
I think I'm the only one who didn't see the imprinting coming. I was certain she was going to have a little boy. I admit there are things lacking, but I just loved the story. Every chapter just left me wanting more. I still want more. I guess I'll jsut have to wait for Midnight Sun to come out. Or the movie. What do you guys think? Movie going to be good or a total flop?
Okay, so like I said, I haven't had a chance to read it yet, and I will read it. But, I've read all the spoilers and I think she jumped the shark. SMeyers is crazy! She did wha? A little too much perfect and a little too much nasty birth.
It's like Sara N. wrote the book. (no, sara, I still love you and I know that you are a far better writer of emails than SMeyer) She hates conflict, so she just wants everyone to live happily ever after.
Now, the movie I will rent. First because Victoria is played by a Veronica Mars guest star and I'm all about that. XD. Secondly, I think it will be less cheesy than the book because it was adapted by someone who writes for a living, not someone who happened to get a book deal.
Ariella, what did you LOVE about the BD? What was your fav part? and really? Nessie? Like the Loch Ness monster?
Ariella, So I just came across your post and I have to say that I am in a whole new world. I love love loveed Breaking Dawn. Let me start out with the likes. I loved how Bella got everything she ever wanted. I love happy ending. That's why you read a book is for a happy ending or at least why I do. I loved the Honeymoon every girls dream. I mean how perfect. I was a little shocked when she was prego. I was like Hello Edward is a vampire. I too thought it was a boy. I was sure. I was shocked when Nessie came out. A girl. It was so neat. I loved the way she became a vampire. Sorry Emily I wanted her to become a vampire in twilight. LOL I know. I couldn't belive the imprinting. I was so shocked. I was angry at first I was like she is just a baby. But I am glad they will all live happy ever after. Okay now that I have totally told you what I loved about the book let me tell you somethings I didnt' like. First of all I understand that Bella has amazing control but come on when Bella was talking to the attorney she didn't want to lunge for his neck? he didn't smell so good? or what about the Resturant she went to, to get the paper she wasn't bothered by all the people. I mean it should have talked about how she had to go hunting or hold her breath or something like that to make it more belivable if you ask me. I really had a hard time that we worked up to the volturies coming and nothing happened. NOTHING. that was disapointing. I mean we got more action when the newborns came. I was very disapointed by that. They just left with their heads hung.or tails between their legs. But that was it. The rest I loved. Breaking Dawn is by far my favorite. Then book 3 Eclipse,1 Twilight, and last 2 new Moon. I had a hard time in book two from chapter 3-13. I guess I am not a teenager. I was like get over you Live Bella and live. Over all I loved the Twilight series.
I think the movie is going to be a huge success. I do not think it's going to flop. I know here in Augusta GA we have a group of about 9 ladies that are going to see the midnight showing Nov 21st... Anyone wants to join us. Come on Down. Thanks for letting me voice my opinion. and rant. Tina
Okay so I did like the book... although it was really... lets say... different. It was not at all what I expected. As soon as I realized she was pregnant I remember thinking "You have got to be kidding me." I am one of the people who has hated Bella throughout the series. She is such an idiot and I have never been able to see what Edward or Jacob see in her. I liked her the most in this book but she still annoyed me a little. (Although the whole vampire transformation was pretty cool) Jacob is easily my favorite character so I couldn't have been happier that he gets a happy ending. As far as the parts of the story that didn't make sense... I don't care as much about that. I think she does a pretty good job of explaining everything. I was definitely disappointed that nothing more happened with the Volturi. I wanted some more people to get taken out. It was a cool story though and I enjoyed reading it. I want to read them all again.
As far as the movie... I am excited to see it but I don't expect much. I guess I just don't see how they could possibly make it not cheesy. The way I see these stories in my head can only be described as awesomeness... However, I don't see that translating to the big screen. We shall see... I hope I am not disappointed.
