Release

re·lease [ri-lees]

1.to free from confinement, bondage, obligation, pain, etc.; let go: to release a prisoner; to release someone from a debt.
2.to free from anything that restrains, fastens, etc.: to release a catapult.
3.to allow to be known, issued, done, or exhibited: to release an article for publication.
4.Law. to give up, relinquish, or surrender (a right, claim, etc.).

Yes...all of the above. I have been released. After being RS President for a year and a half in the Ft Meade Ward, I do feel free from obligation, restraint, etc. oh..here's another one.

Remove restrictions or obligations from someone so that they become available for other activity.

The bishop assures me there are other "activities."

I have some real conflicting emotions about it all. So, here's my pros and cons list.

Pros:
No meetings! woohoo
Less Guilt for not being perfect.
More time for my family
Less obligations
Not having to rearrange Visiting Teaching once a month! Nightmares!
I get a chance to support Adam in HIS calling. YAY!

Cons:
Miss sending mass emails
Miss getting to know everyone
Miss the extra blessings
Miss doing the newsletter
Miss the sisters

Why does it feel like I'm saying goodbye? I know I'll still be friends with everyone and there's always book club. I'm excited to just make friends because I want to and not because I feel obligated to. It'll be interesting to get back to less. Although, in my life, I tend to fill in the gaps pretty quickly.

So, here's to moving on to whatever the Lord has in store.

How'd you win the lottery like that?
Yay for you! Now you can watch DH without guilt. Tee hee.

Who was called? Anyone I know?

Funny that I just read this and I was just called as the RS Pres. in my Branch. :) You know, I LOVE the calling, but I HATE the title. I love to serve and be the one making decisions, but if something goes wrong, I can't blame someone else. darn it. You were great! rock on girlie. I hear door greeter is REALLY fun! That's what I volunteered for... Yeah, I want an update, too!

That's not a shocker. :) You'll be awesome, again, I'm sure.
Door greeter would be awesome! Then you can still get everyone's names and get to know everyone. hmmmm I wonder if Bishop Vest knows about this calling...

Nelladee was called as President, Trudy, 1st counselor and Shilae as 2nd. They will all be awesome. I can't wait.

Who is Nelladee? I haven't been there for 3 months and you've already got names thrown in there that I don't recognize. Help a sister out here!

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the work that you've done through the past year and a half. You had more on your plate than most women ever dream of and yet you pulled it off beautifully and with grace. I am grateful for your hard work and dedication! Thanks Ariella!!

By the way, we'll be back in 2 1/2 more months. Any good rentals near you guys? We can't live on base anymore.

Yes! Tons of rentals! I think Shelly has all their numbers. I would love to have you as neighbors!!! That would be so awesome! I can't wait until you guys get back. The ward hasn't changed too much in your absence. Nelladee probably moved in the week you moved out. She has two kids that I think are in the youth program. Sweet kids and Nelladee is awesome. I can't wait to get to know her better.

Ariella you are awesome. You were the first person in the ward to speak to me and I have liked you ever since =) I am glad that you will be able to spend more time with your family and take care of yourself a little more... you deserve it.

Ariella, I can understand how it is sad to be released from a calling even when it was a lot of work. You really did an amazing job as RS president and I'm sure grateful for all of the hours you put in to make things so nice at the Fort Meade ward. I really miss your great newsletters! :)

I wanted you to reminisce with me as I wrote this on Jamie's blog: Nail polish should be banned! I went to Ariella's house and was there when Nona got out all her Black and metallic embossing powder and rubbed it everywhere. Then I was at Ariella's when she got Desitin EVERYWHERE! :) I was at Lucy's the day after a permanent marker issue. Mine have gotten into A&D, Lotion, Corn Starch, and a whole bag of oreos. Nothing too permanent... yet. Knock on wood!

Oh Monique! I totally forgot about the embossing powder and the Desitin all over our new ottoman. Oh and the permanent marker all over my kitchen floor. Yikes! What a disaster! A hellion that girl was. I'm so glad she grew out of that phase. They say that the children who make huge disasters like that end up being artists? Well, maybe. Nona's pretty good with a crayon...on paper.

Thank you for everyone's kind words. I love being the first person to greet people. I guess I can still do that. I can still see myself checking the ward membership list and seeing if there're any new people.

I wish I could still do the newsletter. Powers that be...new calling??? If that was it, I could probably get them out on time every month. The spotlights were the best.

I'm excited to go to church and not be responsible for ANYTHING! Giving my church keys to Nelladee was an awesome sense of release. Ahh

Reading the comments was like a mini-update on the Ft. Meade ward. I'm so bummed you were never my Relief Society president. It must be so nice to be released though--I LOVED not having to do on Sunday (for about two weeks--then I needed something!)

Ah, Nona. I can still only imagine her being three (and covered with something while Josh freaked out about it!)
