Run it, Light it, Hide it

Story #1: Run it

I went with a group of fantastic women to the Frederick 5K last Friday night. It was my first race, and I think I did pretty darn good. 30 minutes, coming in right behind Joanna. Of course we couldn't touch Crissy and Saundra. They each got first in their age brackets! Way to go! I kinda wanna go run another now. I know I could go faster. I was fiddling with my ipod for the first 5 minutes which I'm sure took off quite a bit of time.

Story #2: Light it

Little Baby G (aka Grant) loves candles. Well, I have a couple candles on our Dining room table right now and they smell fantastic, so when Grant asked me to light them, I thought, sure! I went into the other room for a minute and he came running in crying, "Mommy, Hair...Hot!" Sure enough, the smell of singed hair wafted through the air even before I saw the fried ends of his bangs. Poor Baby G, You think he learned his lesson? We'll have to wait and see.

Story #3: Hide it

We were at the park yesterday, just chillin in the swampy mess of a playground while the rain cleared for a minute or two. Grant was swinging and Bryson was going up and down slides jumping over the huge puddles that awaited the unsuspecting at the foot of each slide. Getting caught up with trying to keep Little G dry, I lost sight of Bryson for a second. Sara N fortunately (or unfortunately) had been keeping an eye on him.

"He's under the playground."

"Where?" Oh...

Sure enough, Boo was squatting, just out of my line of sight with his pants down.

"Don't look at me!!!" came his exasperated cry.

Nope...not pee.

Luckily, for me, there was a relatively clean ziploc baggy on the ground nearby (thank you litterer) that allowed me to safely remove the stinky mess.

Who needs a dog.

Ah kids. How boring would life be if we didn't have to occasionally pick up our child's poop from under the jungle gym.

What, no picture for the third story? Just kidding. Good job on the 5K! I hope to meet up with you guys next time.

Oh trust me, I had my camera phone ready. You can ask Sarah. hehe BUT, seeing how he was screaming at me not to look at him...I tried hard to respect his "privacy."

ahhh, just in case...I meant to spell "Sara" not "Sarah" just in case she happens to read this which isn't very likely.

Just covering my bases. :) <--- That's for Sarah.

Oh my goodness, I laughed so hard at that last one... maybe because I can SO relate. Those sweet boys. I can't wait to see them. Congrats on the race. I can't believe how popular racing has become. Erin Wilkes loves to race. I am glad you two are... because I can't stand to run... I will walk, and walk fast with the best of them... even better is hiking... but don't ask me to run...LOL

Not fair that you have no comment for each story.
Story 1 - You ladies should apply for an add with Nike or Adidas shoes and outfits.
The kids stories just brought smiles to my face, as each story reminded me of similar 'incidents' with my own. Oh the joys of parenthood.
Ariella, thank you for being you!

run it- I wish you can rub the running bug on me, I'm too lazy.

light it- I'm glad it's the tip of the bangs and not his precious little nose.

hide it- this is really funny! I'm sure it wasn't too funny for you when it happened. wow, good story for Bryson's future wife...
