The music game wars

I've been comparing Rockband and Guitar Hero all day. Which is better? and now I've run across Wii Music, which looks totally lame, but could be better for kids. Or should I just get instruments and let them experiment themselves. We've already got the piano. Although, getting a real drum set is rather daunting. (imagining Bryson...enough said)

One day, my dream is to have a family band. I want each of my kids to be able to play a different instrument and play together in the music studio that we will have. They will record music and be totally awesome!

So, what are your thoughts? should I start with these games, or go for the real thing? or both?

Wii music is great for the little ones, but would probably get boring for the older 2. I haven't played the Rock Band or Guitar Hero.

I keep picturing you guys as the Partridge Family right now.

OK my take on guitar hero is that the music can be a little too heavy for the young ones. For that reason we haven't purchased many music games except for HSM which my boys still love. There is a new one out with the 3rd movie and Camp Rock and others. But to each their own. Chris loves the music from guitar hero, but he loved hard rock in HS...lol

Rock band! Ainsley loves to play the drums. Cheyenne has Guitar Hero, but we would much rather sit around and play Rock band.

Ok, if you want them to learn to play music, then do the real thing. If you want them to play a game, do the others.
We have both rock band and guitar hero, and i like guitar hero more than rock band. My kids like them both, but more fighting goes on with rock band than with guitar hero i've noticed!

Rock band is my favorite game ever! It is so much fun!! Ultimately you have to do what is best for your kids. I would suggest listening to all the songs with either of the video games before letting them play because some of the lyrics are not appropriate for kids and I don't think there is a parental setting. (There isn't swearing or anything that I can remember but just some words you wouldn't want them repeating.)
